ANNOUNCING 2019 YORK COUNTY MINI MAKER FAIRE GUESTS OF HONOR: AN AMAZING TRIO OF BRILLIANT TEENS

Maine’s very own Dan Ryder, award-winning, nationally-recognized educator and author, will be moderating our teen panel.

We are thrilled to announce our teen Guests of Honor for the 2019 York County Mini Maker Faire–Elijah Horland, Allie Weber, and Gabriella White. These three genius makers epitomize what our Maker Faire is about…curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, a drive to explore, and the desire to make!

The trio will be speaking at the Meet the Makers & Sponsor Appreciation Kickoff Party on Saturday, November 2 from 5-7pm in the same location as the Maker Faire. Tickets are $25 for this event for adults, youth free.

A moderated panel discussion and Q&A will take place at 1pm during the Maker Faire on Sunday, November 3. The panel will be moderated by nationally-recognized, award-winning Maine educator Dan Ryder. There will be an autograph signing following the panel.

Allie Weber is a 14 year old maker, builder and patent holding inventor who also served as a co-host of the show MythBuster Jr. in 2019. Allie has won multiple awards for her innovations and inventions in national and global competitions, was recognized by Teen Vogue as one of their 21 under 21 girls who are changing the world in 2017, and was also considered one of the top 10 young scientists in the country in 2017 by 3M and Discovery Education. Allie also a STEM advocate on social media and hosts her own YouTube channel, Tech-nic-Allie Speaking, where she shares about her innovations, her maker projects, and does some tech and STEM product reviews.

ELIJAH HORLAND–BROOKLYN, NY
AS SEEN ON MYTHBUSTERS JR.

The 14-year-old from Brooklyn is a self-taught maker, programmer & circuit wiz. At 9 years-old, he started building PCs and “Franken-Mac” computers; at 10 years old, he took his first microcontroller and was blinking LEDs in one night, soldering his first circuit boards by the end of the same week. By 11 he was featured in MAKE Magazine for his early-model “min-tin” sized video game system, now a staple of maker culture.

GABRIELLE WHITE–JACKSONVILLE, FL
A MEMBER OF STEAM SQUAD AND FOUNDER/CEO A.R.C.H.Y. (Architecture Reaching Communities Helping to Inspire Youth) 

Gabriella White is a Social Entrepreneur, STEAM activist,  and founder and CEO of ARCHY. Gabriella founded ARCHY to disrupt the status qou and  create more diversity in the Architecture, STEAM and Design fields. Currently, she host ARCHY workshops in schools, summer camps, and even Microsoft to provide kids with a glimpse of these career fields and show them these careers  are available to them too. Gabriella has been awarded a number of honors and awards , including 2018 Oui Stem Academy Outstanding Achievement Award, in 2018 Future Stem Gems feature on Linked In. Featured on ABC local First Coast News in 2018, a featured speaker at 2018 Black Interior Designer’s Network. A featured speaker at the 10th Annual $MART Women Make Change event hosted by Junior Achievement of North Florida. A featured speaker at the 2018 Southern Women’s Show in Jacksonville, Florida. Gabriella’s future plans include  the launch of her ARCHY foundation for kids, and launch her educational product line in 2019.
